Online Dating has risen to be the primary method of meeting other singles, but it doesn't come without risks. Out Dated is an app that helps online daters feel safe and prepared before, during, and after meeting someone new.

PROBLEM
Many dating apps don’t have thorough safety measures built in. When meeting someone for the first time there’s many protocols people have to use to prevent catfishing or experiencing an unsafe or uncomfortable date. This forces daters to use many different platforms to vet their new dates and it can be time consuming and inconvenient.
SOLUTION
When dating, especially online, a lot of people like to enact safety measures. Whether that’s texting your trusted friends and family your date’s info, sharing your location, or even having them join you and observe your date from afar, we all like to feel safe meeting new people. Out Dated allows you to streamline all of that information to your safety network and seek help quickly if needed.
METHODS:
SURVEY
50 survey responses and four interviews.

AFFINITY DIAGRAM
Our team compiled our survey and interview answers into common categories which allowed us to examine dater's primary concerns and brainstorm the app's key features.
PRIORITY MATRIX
Using the survey and interview results, we accessed the level of impact and difficulty of implementing Out Dated's features to gain better foresight of how the app might function and serve the user's needs.
DESIGN THINKING
Title: Out Dated's name is meant to demonstrate an exit strategy from a date that is potentially unsafe or uncomfortable; also implicating that it is not favorable to date people who exhibit harmful dating practices, further highlighting the app's purpose to promote personal safety. The title encourages users to reevaluate our notions of what is considered "out dated," so that we may collectively foster an environment that embraces personal safety and emotional well-being in our relationships with others.
Colors: Our team wanted to ensure the user felt calm and at ease while using it, especially because it was likely they could be feeling anxious or stressed while using it.
Logo: The lock and heart are used to illustrate safety in dating.
